Recap: We had a cold, but sunny, day to start the New Year! There was a pretty strong wind out of the northwest, which, when factored in with the 23 degree temperature, made it feel like under 10 degrees when running against the wind. But with the sun on your face and the wind on your back for the last mile or so, the race was a fantastic way to start the New Year! And the warm meeting room afterwards helped, too. Brag about your PR (Personal Best) as long as you want!
Congratulations to everyone who participated and special thanks to the many volunteers who helped put this race together. Check out your Resolution and other Resolutions throughout the year. Remember to patronize our wonderful sponsors and tell them you know they support the Resolution Run 5K. We look forward to opening registration for the 2010 version of the Resolution Run 5K in July.

2009 RESOLUTION RUN 5K --- HILLSBOROUGH, NEW JERSEY
How about welcoming the New Year with a new commitment to fitness? The Resolution Run 5K is your answer. This 3.1 mile race (it’s walker friendly, too) is a great way to start off your new or continued emphasis on a fit lifestyle. Join us on New Year’s Day, 2009.
The Resolution Run 5K is held in centrally located Hillsborough Township in Somerset County, New Jersey. It’s a low-key, fun celebration of the New Year for all levels of runners and walkers. You can even stay up late the night before for your own celebration! Join us on Thursday morning, January 1, 2009, at the civilized time of 11:00 am!
The event and the course is USA Track & Field-NJ Sanctioned and Certified. USATF-NJ members can earn points in the 2009 Grand Prix competition. Our race is being timed with the Champion Chip by Compuscore, NJ’s foremost timing and finish line coordinator. Finish times and placements will be available immediately after the race and official results will also be available within hours at the Compuscore website. We'll have awards and refreshments after you cross the Finish Line. All participants will receive a quality, custom designed long sleeve HOODY sweatshirt as well as a Finisher's Ribbon.
Proceeds from the Resolution Run 5K for 2009 will benefit the following groups:
Project Graduation 2009 is dedicated to the graduating class of Hillsborough High School. Graduates enjoy a high-spirited, all-night celebration and party immediately following the commencement exercises in June. This popular local effort is part of a nationally recognized program whose goal is to provide a drug and alcohol free celebration of life while giving graduates a positive sendoff. Project Graduation 2009 is the 18th annual event and is supported by the Hillsborough Township Youth Commission, parent volunteers, the senior class, faculty and school administration and many other Township residents and officials. We are proud to be able to join in the support of Project Graduation 2009.
Approximately half of the proceeds of the Race are contributed to Project Graduation and the remainder is divided among several local pet-friendly groups. Last year, the following non-profit groups were beneficiaries and these or similar groups will benefit from the 2009 Race:
Carol’s Cats is a non-profit organization dedicated to cat rescue and adoption programs. This organization has been rescuing and giving cats up for adoption since 1995. Carol’s Cats specializes in the rescue of feral and abandoned cats. CAP Rescue of Hillsborough stands for Companion Animal Placement. CAP has been heavily involved in local and national rescue operations, including several trips to New Orleans to rescue stranded dogs. Greyhound Friends of New Jersey is dedicated to the rescue, appreciation and care of the greyhound dog. They rescue as many as they can from possible death after racing and give them appropriate medical care. Greyhounds are placed in safe, loving homes.
The event is a project of the Resolutions For Others Foundation. Established in 2001, the Hillsborough based Foundation is registered as a charitable, nonprofit corporation with the State of New Jersey.
The Resolution Run 5K has SPECIAL ONLINE PRICING:
- Regular Early Online Registration is available now through midnight, Sunday, November 23, 2008. The fee is $22. USATF-NJ members and those 18 and younger may take a $2.00 discount.
- Regular Registration will close at midnight, December 25, 2008, or sooner, if the race limit is reached. Last year, registration closed nearly a week early. The fee is $27. USATF-NJ members and those 18 and younger may take a $2.00 discount.
An online registration fee is added to the above fees. This goes to our online registration provider, not the Resolution Run.
Sorry, but there is absolutely NO Raceday in-person registration and NO registration after we have filled up. No exceptions.
